House Republicans gavel in—over shouting of Democrats—for failed vote

"In case you missed it—Republicans decided it was urgent to overturn a new Labor Department rule that essentially says, if you have a financial adviser, they have to act in your best interest. So over the shouts of Democrats—“No Bill, No Break!”—Paul Ryan gaveled in to take the vote. Really? That's what they chose to go to bat for? Democrats have spent ten-plus hours on the House floor trying to get a vote on gun safety measures, and this is where Republicans make their stand?? Yep. Wall Street hates that rule—they want free rein to swindle their clients—and the GOP went to bat for them. (P.S. Obama vetoed the GOP effort to roll back the rule earlier this month.) After all that, the GOP effort to override Obama’s veto FAILED: Yeas 239, Nays 180. They didn’t meet the 2/3 threshold. So the House GOP made its stand for Wall Street… and failed. Who are these jokers?!"
