Slavery is not the reason for the American Civil War, but we have been led to think that through a conspiracy by historians who "waited until all of the people who were alive during the Civil War and the Restoration died of old age." School shootings started only after “the schools started teaching evolution.” That there may have been dinosaurs on Noah’s ark, and the reason there are no dinosaurs now is that Noah only brought baby dinosaurs that starved to death when he let them loose back on land. It's Time for States to Invest in Infrastructure
http://www.truth-out.org/opinion/item/35070-it-s-time-for-states-to-invest-in-infrastructure
"The condition of roads, bridges, schools, water treatment plants, and other physical assets greatly influences the economy's ability to function and grow. Commerce requires well-maintained roads, railroads, airports, and ports so that manufacturers can obtain raw materials and parts, and deliver finished products to consumers. Growing communities rely on well-functioning water and sewer systems. State-of-the art schools free from crowding and safety hazards improve educational opportunities for future workers. Every state needs infrastructure improvements that have potential to pay off economically in private sector investment and job growth. But rather than identifying and making the infrastructure investments that provide the foundation for a strong economy, many states are cutting taxes and offering corporate subsidies in a misguided approach to boosting economic growth. Tax cuts will spur little to no economic growth and take money away from schools, universities, and other public investments essential to producing the talented workforce that businesses need.[1] This pattern of neglect of infrastructure by states - the primary stewards (along with their local government partners) of the nation's infrastructure - has serious consequences for the nation's growth and quality of life as roads crumble, school buildings become obsolete, and outdated facilities jeopardize public health."

Young Republican Writes Obama To Thank Him For The ACA
"The letter speaks for itself. To My President, I sincerely hope that this reaches you, as far too often praise is hard to come by. Apologies to people who deserve it perhaps even less so. I did not vote for you. Either time. I have voted Republican for the entirety of my life. I proudly wore pins and planted banners displaying my Republican loyalty. I was very vocal in my opposition to you–particularly the ACA. Before I briefly explain my story allow me to first say this: I am so very sorry. I understand written content cannot convey emotions very well–but my level of conviction has me in tears as I write this. I was so very wrong. So very very wrong. You saved my life. I want that to sink into your ears and mind. My President, you saved my life, and I am eternally grateful. I have a ‘pre-existing condition’ and so could never purchase health insurance. Only after the ACA came into being could I be covered. Put simply to not take up too much of your time if you are in fact taking the time to read this: I would not be alive without access to care I received due to your law. So thank you from a dumb young man who thought he knew it all and who said things about you that he now regrets. Thank you for serving me even when I didn’t vote for you. Thank you for being my President. Honored to have lived under your leadership and guidance, Brent Nathan Brown Watch President Obama's speech in Milwaukee below. He is introduced by the writer of the letter, and the intro is as good as the letter."

"This is reflected by how Republican voters are much more likely to be racially resentful toward black Americans and also manifest what is known as “modern” or “symbolic racism.” Even more troubling, research by Brown University political scientist Michael Tesler demonstrates that “old-fashioned racism” has actually increased among Republican voters since the election of Barack Obama. Once thought to be a relative non-factor in contemporary politics, this, the more primitive and retrograde racism of Jim and Jane Crow America, is now such a potent force that it is directly correlated with party identification: individuals who are “old-fashioned racists” are more likely to support the Republican Party. Since the end of the African-American civil rights movement, the electoral strategy of the Republican Party has relied on the use of racially coded appeals and “dog whistle” politics to win over white voters. This tactic — what would come to be known as the “Southern Strategy” — was outlined by Lee Atwater, mentor to Karl Rove"

The younger Trump will be featured as guest of honor in Saturday’s broadcast of the Political Cesspool, a three-hour program that lists among its objectives “to grow the percentage of Whites in the world relative to other races”. The show is presented by James Edwards, an avowed white nationalist who is pro-slavery and whose previous guests include the former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan David Duke as well as a raft of Holocaust deniers and neo-Nazis."

The White Nationalist Strategy That Explains Donald Trump’s Success With Republicans
http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2016/03/02/3755143/white-nationalist-strategy-trump/
"Even if Trump can increase Romney’s command of white voters in November, he would still need at least 42 percent of the Latino vote to secure the presidency — close to double the number who voted Republican in the last presidential election, according to Latino Decisions. Trump’s claims that Latinos love him don’t bear out in reality. He has alienated Latinos by historic margins, and strongly negative views of Trump have only grown more intense among Latino voters throughout his campaign. According to a Washington Post-Univision poll, Trump would lose Latinos to Hillary Clinton by an even larger number than Romney lost in 2012. Meanwhile, the party’s official plan to win over Latinos, African Americans, women, and younger people never really took off."

The Fraud Cases Against Trump University Are Gaining Steam

"Four judges for the New York Appellate Division unanimously ruled on Tuesday that the office is authorized to pursue the fraud case. The New York Attorney General’s office first filed the lawsuit in 2013. The “university,” which allowed students to purchase expensive CDs and DVDs, was not actually accredited. The lawsuit charges that Trump University “repeatedly deceived students into thinking that they were attending a legally chartered ‘university'” and misled students into believing the so-called experts on investing in real estate would be hand-picked by Trump, according to the New York Daily News. The New York Department of Education sent Trump University a letter in 2010 demanding that it stop calling itself a university. The name was later changed to Trump Entrepreneur Initiative. In an interview with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday, Wallace asked Trump about the claim that one of the real estate experts was a manager at a Buffalo Wild Wings, and Trump responded by saying that “many” of the experts were handpicked by him."

The show openly states on its website that it's a "pro-White" program that wishes "to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility." It is hosted by white nationalist James Edwards, who has claimed that Martin Luther King Jr.'s "dream is our nightmare," "interracial sex is white genocide," and "slavery is the greatest thing that ever happened to" African-Americans."

GOP voters are playing right into Trump’s scheme: CBS chief Les Moonves explains how the Donald’s cynical con job is working perfectly
"The Republican presidential race is a media-driven circus, and circuses are good for business. “It may not be good for America, but it’s damn good for CBS,” Moonves said of the presidential campaign. Trump’s presence makes the whole spectacle unpredictable and entertaining, not unlike a reality show. “Most of the ads are not about issues,” Moonves added, “They’re sort of like the debates. Man, who would have expected the ride we’re all having right now?…The money’s rolling in and this is fun. I’ve never seen anything like this, and this is going to be a very good year for us. Sorry. It’s a terrible thing to say. But, bring it on, Donald. Keep going.” Moonves carried on a bit more about the surplus of advertising dollars “in the marketplace” due to Trump’s continued presence in the race. But the point is obvious enough. Trump is winning, and he’s made a mockery of the process along the way. As a TV man and professional charlatan, I expect Trump to behave like the swindler that he is, but the media’s complicity is a huge part of this story."

Robert Reich: Dear GOP Establishment, Brace for a Painful Reckoning With the Reality You Created @alternet:
"You are the captains of American industry, the titans of Wall Street, and the billionaires who for decades have been the backbone of the Republican Party. You’ve invested your millions in the GOP in order to get lower taxes, wider tax loopholes, bigger subsidies, more generous bailouts, less regulation, lengthier patents and copyrights and stronger market power allowing you to raise prices, weaker unions and bigger trade deals allowing you outsource abroad to reduce wages, easier bankruptcy for you but harder bankruptcy for homeowners and student debtors, and judges who will let you to engage in insider trading and who won’t prosecute you for white-collar crimes. All of which have made you enormously wealthy. Congratulations. But I have some disturbing news for you. You’re paying a big price — and about to pay far more. First, as you may have noticed, most of your companies aren’t growing nearly as fast as they did before the Great Recession. Your sales are sputtering, and your stock prices are fragile. That’s because you forgot that your workers are also consumers. As you’ve pushed wages downward, you’ve also squeezed your customers so tight they can hardly afford to buy what you have to sell. Consumer spending comprises 70 percent of the American economy. But the typical family is earning less today than it did in 2000, in terms of real purchasing power. Most of the economic gains have gone to you and others like you who spend only a small fraction of what they rake in. That spells trouble for the economy — and for you."

Donald Trump is the candidate the Republicans deserve
http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/2/28/1490942/-Donald-Trump-is-the-candidate-the-Republicans-deserve
"The increasing polarization of the political parties has been a long time developing. In some ways, it has been a natural realignment along ideological grounds that was forestalled only by the bitter vindictiveness of Southern racists, including those who like to pretend that their bitter vindictiveness isn't about racism. But it is. And the now obviously racist undercurrent of so much modern Republican politics and right-wing media should not be a surprise. Racism is not incidental to the modern conservative movement. It has been one of its defining characteristics. Donald Trump is nothing new, but for his being open about it. Conservatives have courted the ugliest instincts in the American psyche, and now they own them. Misogyny. Islamophobia. Support for torture. Racist nativism. None of it is new to the Republican Party. None of it is unique to one presidential candidate. It is what the Republican Party has become. All of it. It is how the modern Republican Party courted and catered to its modern base of voters. All of them. And now Republicans leaders are terrified of Donald Trump? The simple truth is that he personifies everything the modern Republican Party has become. Perhaps they thought they could keep it hidden. Perhaps they thought the major media would continue to help them pretend. But they can’t keep it hidden anymore, and they can’t pretend. Donald Trump has torn off the modern Republican Party’s mask. It is neither accident nor fluke that he is becoming their leader. Donald Trump is the modern Republican Party. They own it, and he owns them."

Wisconsin Is About To Make It Easier For Debt Collectors To Go After Consumers
http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2016/02/24/3753102/wisconsin-debt-collector-lawsuits/
"People who make money collecting debts in Wisconsin are about to get a big favor from their government. A law sitting on Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) desk this week would make it much easier and much less risky for debt collectors to go after consumers in court, and much harder to prove that any given collection effort is bogus. The same idea was defeated in 2014 after state officials testified it would harm consumers. The state didn’t raise those same warnings in a September hearing on the nearly-identical 2015 version of the bill, however. It passed both Republican-dominated chambers of the state legislature on party-line votes. The bill dramatically lowers the standard of proof that collectors have to meet in court in order to bring the justice system to bear on the person they claim owes them money. It also makes it harder for people to recover the cost of hiring lawyers even when they win in collections court, thus encouraging collectors to take matters to court almost risk-free."
